About The Builder
Rodney McNew
Rodney McNew of Quinton is the founder of Windmill Homes and Improvements and Nu Kitchens and Baths. Rodney was raised by his grandfather, Silas McNew. Silas was a tinker, as they say. In the early 70s, Rodney and his grandfather made their first windmill together.
Rodney recalls their first windmill, a farmer churning butter, then a squirrel in a rowboat. “As the windmill turned, these characters came to life, kinda like watching an aquarium I suppose.” Rodney also remembers great conversations and time on the porch.
That’s how Windmill Homes and Improvements and Nu Kitchens and Baths got its name. In honor of a wonderful man, Silas McNew.
Rodney went on to build his first home in New Kent in 1986. He loved the process so much that he incorporated Windmill Homes in 1992. Twenty-six years later he is still doing business in New Kent County, Virginia, now under the name “Windmill Homes and Improvements and Nu Kitchens and Baths”.
Recently Rodney opened a new showroom in the Forge Shopping Center in Providence Forge. Here customers can come in and view endless countertop, bath, and kitchen remodeling samples and discuss options for their home improvement projects.
